Yep woman jockey and the straper was the jockeys brother who has Down syndrome .. Well done . Well deserved ..

Good on the girl jockey. Only one Australian bred horse in the race I believe.
But like everything else where slowly being taken over.
Too many foreign horses. I don't bet but concerned when something iconic is being taken over.
Still, the trainers get a few bob for their efforts.

good for you Wombat. I not into betting, but the BOSS always punts a few $$'s on the Melbourne Cup - she wasn't as clever as you in backing the right horse and jockey.
But it was great the see a person with a disability be pushed to the top - and all praise to the trainer who employs and trusts him to do the right thing!!
