Another off the beaten track adventure perhaps. I look at basic maps in my Explore Australia book ( 1996 version) and see small town names / stations along the Trans Australia rail line that run parrallel with the Eyre Highway about 125km in with Tracks that lead to some of these way out places.
Is this possible to do, and follow the line say from Watson to Cook in no mans land and head back to the Highway. Or am I Way out on such an adventure.

You need to realise that those camps are deserted in the main and no fuel either so its a case of bring all your fuel, water and food. Oh and breakdown gear as well

Jim,
You can travel legit East from Kalgoorlie to Haig then East from Lyons in SA. The big bit in the middle You won't get a permit to travel. Plenty have ran the risk though. But if Murphy intervenes You are on Your own.
I have done the section from Kal to Rawlinna & down to ****lebiddy Then the SA sect from Malbooma to Glendambo both great drives. The dust on the WA sect was a bit much though.

Its not really possible, the Trans Australia Railway Access road that links these is a private road and closed to all travellers, so there is no road between these places.

There is a road, but opinions vary as to whether it is Trans Australia private road (they say it is not publically accessible) or if it is Telstra controlled (who don't seem to care). As Jim says, people do drive it. Again, as Jim says, some of it is accessible.
Do your own research, and lots of it.....
We have been to Cook (and north from there to Vokes Hill Corner) and it is certainly not deserted (population 2 plus relieving train crews sometimes) as it is a train refuelling station (but none for vehicles). Forrest has refuelling for light aircraft.

North of Cook, crossing the Nullarbor S to N.
A nicer drive than following the rail line is the Anne Beadell Highway.

Awsome, I totally agree the research and planning well ahead is all part of the adventure. June through September would be the optimum time. I think also that one would have some well seasoned used rail sleepers for our camp oven roast lamb shanks, spuds, pumpkin, carrots, onions, tinned peas, greavy. + bottle of red.
Then we could head back to Flowers Bay Jetty to tangle with a few calamari for our baked sea food squid tubes stuffed with seasoned stuffing, KG whiting, canned Crab, and canned prawns, capisum, bassel and rosemary + onion. Served with a bottle of white.
OMG 8 months till we pull the pin.

We drove several sections of the track some years ago in a Toyota Troop Carrier and had a very interesting time but on leaving it we were on station tracks so most of the trip was dependent upon having permissions. Base upon that experience I would not want to drive it in anything other than a high clearance 4 wd. (although conditions may have improved).
