Hi all would appreciate help we are considering going on road fulltime , but financially will be final move, we both are happy but a bit scared , of getting old on road , can someone tell me the positive and neg, of such a move and important , things to remember, thanks we have been on the road 6mths this time and all good even though my dog got rat baits and survived thank goodness.

Hello Noelene, It's a few years since our last caravanning trip but, we had a note in an envelope on the dashboard of the car and the table in the van. On the envelope it said "In the event of our deaths whether from accident or old age please give this envelope to the nearest Police".
Inside the envelope the note told of our Kids names, Addresses, Mob and Land Line Ph Nos, and E-mail addresses. Fortunately they were never used, but would have been handy even if we both got very sick.

we have done just that. Love it. Downfall number one: if van needs repair u have nowhere to live During repair.
two: have not come across it yet.

we've been full time for 4 yrs and love it - have to work occasionally as we are not quite pensionable age till next year (usually 3 mths at a time) then holiday/travel for a few months. Have had no trouble getting work when we've wanted it. We bought a unit so we have a home to eventually go to when needed. Have tenants in it so have a small income. Our 'stuff' is stored in a container on a friends farm.

We've just sold EVERYTHING and been on the road since June. So far, so good. There's nothing to go back to, anyway. I'm hoping that we've made the right decision, but I'm sure we have. The views from our windows are absolutely breath taking! Our home...Australia. :D

It's a personal choice only you can make.
Others tell me it's necessary to purchase a home for bad health and old age. WHY? What rule states I must die in a house and not a motor home?
I may do what another couple suggested, leave a note on the dashboard, giving instructions for when I pop off lol lol.

We (55/56yo) are just about to embark on this journey!
Have sold our principal place of residence (settles next Wed) and are moving in with our 33yo son - it's actually our house and he was renting it from us (i don't think he's overjoyed about this prospect but we won't be there long).
We are lucky to have a couple more rental properties so have options for if we are unable to continue.
I plan to finish work early Feb 2016 and then we are off!
We can't wait - we did a year in 2013 and got hooked.
Hopefully find work if we need, but we are just going to go and hopefully have the time of our lives.
I always find it amusing the look of shock on people face when they ask "how long are you going for?" and we say "20+ years" - most people can't comprehend it - i know most people on here will get it!

We are almost doing the identical thing, same age, same set up with house, kids, rental etc. We are looking at setting off about Dec 2016....and yep I love the look on peoples faces when they ask how long are you going for and we tell them we'll try a decade then see what happens.....you got to love it!

We have been "on the road" for over 4 years now Noelene. Love it.
We do own a house but have never lived in it. I guess the day will come eventually though.

We have been living on the road for 4 years now, on aged pension. It is cheaper to be on the road than renting etc if you don't own your own home. Some people
don't have their OWN home due to unfortunate circumstances. Take the plunge or you will never know. Nobody knows what the future holds for them, whether rich or poor.
