Hi we are new to the caravan world and have a question on our vehicle. We have a 2011 Jeep Cherokee limited CRD 2.8 turbo diesel auto .Has anyone had experience towing a van with this vehicle ? The van we are currently looking at is a single axle 14.5 foot and 1500kgs. There seems to be conflicting info on the towing capacity of the Jeep. Some say 1600kgs and some say 2200kgs.
Can anyone assist ?
thanks
Mike

Mike, I can't see much problem towing 1500kg with your Jeep. Just make sure you have the electric brakes in top nick and adjusted properly and you have all weight disributed correctly.
Keep Safe out there.

I suspect the varying towing figures quoted are not in relation to the power or capacity to tow a certain weight, (vehicle handbook should specify the maximum towing capacity) but the TOW BAR capacity. Generally speaking the normal standard towbar which has a flat tongue bolted to the bar is rated at 1600 kg however the heavier duty towbar which usually has a removable tongue of the "receiver' type is a square section on the tongue which slips into a "receiver" and held in place by a pin. These types can withstand loads up to 3500 kg. Note! depending on vehicle specs. once again refer to the hand book or Dealer for info.

Gday...
Mike, I suggest you refer to the Owner's Manual that should be with the vehicle. It should detail the limitations/specifications for towing.
In the meantime, this will give some information -
I draw your attention to note #3 in the Condition column.
