We have been travelling, ( hubby still working ) and living in our van for the last three and a half years and both of us love living in the van, but he is now of pension age and starting to think about settling in one place, still undecided where, but have found that it is almost impossible to stay long term in parks anymore. They all seem to have different rules state to state or even just local councils, it really has become a real conundrum for us, as we don't own a property to retreat to and really don't want that either............how do other people feel, just wondering

Hi Pauline, long time since we enjoyed coffee together. Must do it again sometime. I have seen numerous caravan parks with permanent residents, in my travels. Might be a matter of choosing an area you would like to retire to, then enquire at every c/p.

Yes a long time Marj, the few places we have checked out, no permanents, can only stay for so many days then have to move off site for up to a month at some places then back on site and do it all over again...............oh well will just have to keep looking for now. Hope everything is good for you though I don't post much anymore I still have been keeping an eye on your travels, keep safe, love.

We had a permanent site in broome at $200 a week plus power. A permanent site in karrinup in perth. They are about, what we found is that you often need to wait for a vacancy to come up.

Pauline, The Harbour View CP in Cowell SA has permanent sites. Nice spot close to fishing and the Franklin Harbour. Might be worth a look if you are that way inclined.

My hubby has retired, and we've just sold up and moved into the caravan. We're permanently on the road, and I'm sure that neither of us want to settle down in one place ever...no lawns to mow, housework is a breeze and the views from our kitchen window are absolutely awe inspiring and ever changing!

Know that feeling Fuzzball and whilst we are not ready yet have been checking out places along the way and it does seem a lot harder nowadays if we happened to be that way inclined.

it would be handy if you posted where you would like live State/Region/Town.
Like you when we get to the stage when we feel we want some permanency will look at a country town with reasonable medical facilities and basic other needs.
It's easy to find a park that has permanent residents in Vic and SA just dont bother looking at the those the belong to the groups like Big 4 etc, or places of high tourist destination, some of these have restricted permanence like x dollars per year plus power for 150 days any additional days are at the normal daily rare.

Pauline, try choosing some areas you like, and start emailing the parks in that area, explaining what you are looking for, and why. You may strike lucky.

If you are looking to settle down in NSW look for a park that is also a residential park. You will be able to get a lease to live in that park that will give you a fair amount of protection. The NSW legislation
