Hi all,
We will be getting the brake controller fitted at years end by Jayco.
Where's the best position for most users in your tow truck.

Jim, mate, it's a Brake Controller, fit it to the brakes
Just for something different I have mine under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Works well too.

If you get a remote head type, like a redarc tow pro, you fit the controller anywhere it will fit under the dash, then the control knob can fit in any spare switch blank on the dash.

I'm with Troopy here. I have had three different brake controllers over a period of time and have found the Redarc Tow Prow superior . The harder you press the pedal the harder it brakes. It can be used manually, has variable settings and can be mounted remotely so that all you have on the dash is the control knob. Best thing since sliced bread.

The short answer is any where it can be easily reached to allow the manual over ride to be operated by the driver!

Don't forget that they still need to be installed as per the instructions specific to the type of controllers. Some must be in line with the vehicle, some as level as possible, some have no over ride and still others are bolted to the A frame. Hey Jim just says it's just a brake controller.....no specific brand.
I'd refer to the brake controllers installation instructions.

Where ever you mount the controller make sure you can enter and exit the cab without bashing your knees.

Hi all,
Thanks for your imput.
The reason I asked is that, on the Lcool site, some remove the ash tray and install it there.
In my GX LC, I have my small reversing monitor located there.
There are blanks under the dash on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
As long as the installers don't try and pull the wool over me. Trying to move the monitor for their benefit.
They are including the controller in the deal with the van, But long term, paying the difference for red ark pro may be the better option.

Hi Jim
Got mine on the right hand side in a opening for some switches in my Ranger
It seems to do the trick for me
If need be it is easy to operate from there
Cheers John

After MANY years of cutting casualty's out of car wrecks, remember that in an impact you travel forward & up in your seat, anything mounted "under the dash" either side of the steering your legs are likely to impact.
That's why they put all that nice smooth plastic there.
In days gone by the fitment of large CB radio's caused some horrific leg injuries & even worse when accessories were remove & the mounting brackets left behind.

Hullo Dog Box,
Yep I know your right.
They said in the contract we could up grade to a Red Arc extra $$. I did not pay attention at the time. I took some photo's, so if I can inlarge them I may see the upgrade price.
I had a look see on Flea Bay at the RA Pro $245.00 So we will see what Jayco does the swap for$$$$$.
My Gx does not have the push button start. But The round hole is there! The control knob may be a perfect fit. Which would be perfect for myself as it is right next to the radio
Does anyone know the outside diameter of the RA Pro control knob please. It gets better all the time.
Regards Jim

I take it you're referring to the Redarc Tow Pro? Here's a pic of one fitted in a Prado. If yours has the same size hole for the start button then it should be OK there.
Yes should be same as. Mine has a Toyota plug that should just pop out.
thanks for the pictures.

On my Patrol - controller under dash and can adjust with left hand by leaning forward slightly.
As you are in NSW you will probably also be fitting a break-away brake battery monitor that must be in driver's field of vision - I have mine fitted on centre (gear lever) console beside left thigh.
