Gday ,We have just finished a run from Echuca up the to Cobar ,Cunamulla,Roma,Emerald,T/ville over to Winton,L/reach ,I/frcmbe ,Ch/ville and Bourke till the heavens opened up in a big way so we bolted home .We met up with Chris and Joy ,two fellow nomads at happy hour at Ilfracombe [what a great park and nice town ].
We found all parks very happy to see us and we only booked 1 day ahead to each park with the exception of Townsville [now that's a lovely city !] .Its funny you know ,very few vanners had heard of this forum at all.Mind you when in Qld most folk had heard of Echuca but none quite knew where it was ! so go figure ! Our day on Magnetic Island was wonderful and very cheap for seniors $ 16 boat trip and $ 1.50 for all day on the bus ! The chinese feed at the Bourke bowling club was outstanding.
No park stood out and some need a bit of TLC ,however all were clean and we had never had an ensuite before so Townsville park was nice for that $ 45 a night though. 99% of all vanners waved as we journeyed along and we took note of some good free camps for another time. Cheapest fuel was at Clermont Caltex $ 1.25c and a very nice bloke too. 6500 kays in 3 short weeks ,but always fun and no problems. John. PS.someone should tell the Longreach mob to keep their jets off the bloody roads though !
How's the ''white line fever'' going? Did you manage to see anything along the way? A 3 month trip if we were doing it. Fuel companies look like a good investment.

Sounds a good trip with a lot of ground covered . Sorry we missed each other in Townsville though John.
When next at Greens I will make contact and maybe we could catch up in your home town one day.

On the flip side of the topic....one benefit of getting older is a 'quickie' takes about half an hour!

There are lots of reasons why people do a lot of kilometres in a short period of time. Sometimes it is a short break from work or only spare time available. The main point is ...you did it! Please do not feel under any obligation to do it a different way just because someone else informs you that is how they do it!

More like it takes all night to do what you used to do all night.
Then again, not as good as I once was, but as good once, as I once was.
