Interesting little place, located between Kalgoorlie & Norseman, had a population of 6,000 now 1500 due to decline in mining.
There's a 24hr free camp in town, friendly ranger who doesn't mind you staying for a few days if needed as there is no caravan park.
There' a lookout on red hill rd, highest point in the area & only a couple of kl from town, sealed road & accessable with a caravan. This over looks the entire area, mines & village including 500sq kl of lake Lefroy A saltish lake from early wet times when many rivers flowed, now landlocked. Worth a look.

You are right JC, great spot to stop at. Clean and safe. Close to supermarket. Love the way WA put in the free camp spots.

We liked Kambalda - great little free camp, walk to supermarket and shops. If you don't have a shower onboard, can get nice hot shower at the recreation centre next door - $2.50 from memory.

When we were there couple of years back you could camp at the mining village. Has that closed now?
