Wekcome to the gang David, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Why would you want to find anywhere else than this great forum mate?
There are different sub forums so look through those as heaps of great information already here. I.E. If you want to know something in the technical area slip into "Techies" sub forum and ask away but hold on tight as the flood gates can and usually do open.
There is also a "Solo" sub forum.
I am Solo and have no problems. There are heaps of solos out here mate. Mention roughly the areas you will be or are and you could meet up with some if us.
Keep Safe out there.

Welcome David, you have come to the right place. The members here have a wealth of information and I am sure there will be someone here with experience in the area, just put a post probably in techies with a clear heading, then describe the problem you are having, make sure you include any specific model, etc.
You would be a brave person if you did not have some apprehension, but again there are many singles her eon the forum who travel on their own, some team up with others and travel in loose groups, many are more comfortable travelling on their own. Have a look under "Solo" and you will find many long stories of people travelling on their own, and loving it.

Hi David ,Welcome to the forum ,Do not say that you can't do it because you absolutely can do it . There are lots of solo's on this forum and they are all doing it (travelling that is) You can do anything you put you put your mind to.Once you make that start you'll wonder what all the worry was about.

Hi David, don't worry about repairs ect to an older van. Most minor issues are fairly straight forward to rectify if you are handy! or seek out a reputable van repairer. Older vans can be made reliable & provide years of further fun, mine is 42 years old & going strong!!! All the best, there's plenty of people out there in the same position

Hello David. Welcome to the Forum.
We all look forward to catching up with you on the road once your 'van is all fit and good to go. You would be amazed how many older vans are on the road - they are solid and well built, unlike most of the newer ones.
There are 100s of solo nomads out there including some ladies who have been driving the lap for years now and stop in free camps by themselves often - when theyre not catching up with new friends they make through this Forum and meeting people on the road.
Be positive - you will get offered plenty of help from others here and you might even find someone who is retired who will have the skills to help you with your re-build. Only one word of warning, just watch caravan repairers if you get them to do work. If you can, get a couple of quotes and see just how busy they are.

Worry not David. Don't sweat it. There's plenty of us out there solo and not so, who are doing what you are apprehensive about. I too get apprehensive at times but then I think- WTH. It is no big deal. What we worry about tends not to happen anyway. Nike mate. Just do it.
