We want to take this road shortly (Aug 26th 2015) but have heard there has been a lot of rain nearby. Has anyone been down it and would we get a raised but not strictly off road small van through?

Just been in that area but we doubbled back from Marble Bar to the hwy then down to Newman. Its a gravel rd, lots of mine trucks & vehicles with a couple of creek crossings so gave it the flick.
Barble bar to hwy all sealed & good.

I was along it about two weeks ago. Fair bit of gravel road and heaps of mining vehicles all going past at the speed of sound. I would give it a miss too.

G'day mate
We did that road about 3-4 weeks back and it is a great piece of road - so go for it !!
Lots of road workers on site preparing it for bitumen surfacing very soon. It is already sealed from Roy Hill mine to Newman [ie- about 1/3 of the total distance], and the northern 2/3 is a beaut bit of road, I would be very surprised if you had the slightest worry or concern while doing it
