Hi Muzzlehatch, I have been volunteering in Cairns and Gold Coast life line shops.it has been easy as the Centrelink staff are wonderful. But I want to go out west where there my not be Centerlink. I am thinking Blaze Aid on a station but don't know what Centerlink would accept.? Have you done any?

Hi Pawpaw,
this whole lifestlye is new to me. I am renovating a van to live in and planning on taking to the road first quarter 2016. I believe you can be sanctioned off Newstart if you deliberately go someplace where there is high unemployment. I spoke in general terms to my Jobnetwork service provider - lovely lass who is very helpfull. She said she has no grey nomads on her books at the moment, but says people do opt for that lifestyle if they dont own a house in a city where rentals are out of reach to Newstart recipients. I am presently in the Volunter Bushfire brigade.
I was toying with the idea of forming my own volunteer organisation. In my last proper job I was training field crew to operate in remote areas. It covered Sat Phones GPS EPIRB SAR processes. There is an organisation called SAHANA open source disaster management. I was thinking about a training course covering GPS Google Earth and SAHANA. One could liase with the community through church groups maybe a cuppla hours a week for three weeks or so. Still ruminating n that one.
Cheers !!
