NSW Safety Inspection Report needed for trailer rego

The trailer I tow behind my small motorhome is due for registration (NSW) in Sept. Each year it needs a new Safety Inspection Report. How do other Grey Nomads from NSW deal with this problem when travelling for extended periods of time in areas other than NSW?
For example, in Melbourne early this year, the NSW rego on my motorhome came due. My only option was to pay for a Vic Road Worthy Certificate, even though that certificate only applies to vehicles being sold. Last year in Qld I had a 260km round trip to Longreach to get a safety inspection report on my 252kg trailer because none of the service centres in Blackall and Barcaldine did them ( why? because it wasn't a requirement in Qld. In NSW, trailers over 250kg must be inspected for rego each year!! )
I'm currently in WA. Although I expect to be in SA by the time my trailer rego is due, I do not want to have to make a long side-trip into NSW.
I've searched Google etc. Have looked at the SA govt website regarding inspections etc. Am non the wiser now though.
What do other NSW grey nomads do? Any suggestions?

Frannie, just another reason added to an already long list of why there should be a NATIONAL REGESTRATION AND LICENCE system in place, not State. IMO.
I can't see why a safety report from a Qualified Auto Mechanic should not be accepted by the NSW rego mob. But then again it is a Government Dept. I am pretty sure a mechanic would check brakes, bearings, tyres and weld joints only. Geez, it's only 250kg tare for goodness sake.

You should be able to change the renewal dates on either motorhome or trailer to the same month and this way you will be able to have them both checked at the same time. I know you can do this in Qld as long as the date is less than 12 months. My daughter paid too much for 6 months rego on renewal by mistake and Qld Transport simply extended the rego for the the equivalent period so it can be done. Regards

Solo Steve organised his due registration and the inspection while in WA last year, have to do it within three months of it being due, not before, apparently from what I remember, he had the paperwork forwarded to a mechanic in WA who does roadworthies over there, and sent it back. Search for him on this forum, he might be able to help you some more. He is travelling at the moment, somewhere in QLD, but checks in here often.

In NSW you can 1. re rego three months before due date.
2. Cancel the balance of rego eg: 4 months to go and re register both vehicles at the same time, But it costs you, a few extra dollars.
As for National Rego = *%%#######@ hard basket.
We did Option 1 selling our camper giving buyers 15 months rego up front, and it sold.
We are for national rego as most retirees head north with there vans campers motor homes in winter.
In NSW you can cancel the balance of both, SAY January. so at lease you have twelve months JAN to JAN when most GN's would be at home.
We have the tug due end of Dec and now the new Van will be early January ( Fantastic ) as we will have a 2016 build date / Plus rego Nice one.

Or rego everything in WA, cheaper, renewal on your email, pay online with no rego inspection needed.
Down side is you need a WA mailing address.

Jeez that's careless 2kg over Mine is 249kg and no inspection, I'd be trying to get it redone at the lower weight even if it means taking off the tailgate or getting a very light one made to get it under 250kg. National rego would be a great thing but seeing they couldn't agree on rail gauge what hope do we have.
Better idea would be to abolish state governments and just have federal and councils, Main roads and rego could be under federal. tooo easy.

Thank you everyone. I 'm in an area without internet access so had not been able to read your replies until now. Agree with all your comments about the need for a national system of registration. I will go ahead and change the due dates of the registration on my various vehicles to coincide with the period of the year I'm always home. The tare weight (252kg) is stamped into the compliance plate - AND, the manufacturer informed me that their tare weight does not include the fitted water tank!!
