you could try air bags on the rear, or look at putting a new set of 2 inch lift springs front and rear on your tug?

The way I read your post Keiron it is the right hand side door that won't open, my thoughts would be to weigh the tow bar load of your van, it could be too heavy and bending the chassis of the patrol, if this is not the case I would then start by having a very very good look at the chassis for stress marks or bends, have you had the patrol all its life, has it ever had airbags in the rear suspension, they may have been over inflated and bent the chassis. I assumes that the door opens cleanly without the van attached and it is aligned at the door sills the same as on the other side, you may need to check this with the door on another patrol

Easiest solution is to replace the ball coupling with a D035 or Tregg type coupling, that doesn't have the high profile of the old ball type couplings. Added bonus is that they are much safer.

have a similar problem with a Pajero. I put a Hyland Hitch on the van and problem solved. Van also seems to ride better to

WE put a Highland hitch on ours as we had the same problem. All sorted
A call to any Patrol owners...
When I first connected my van, sitting nice and level, I was NOT ablr to open the R/H rear door, as it hit the coupling handle.
My solution was to lower the hitch, thus allowing the door to clear the hitch.
My problem, is that when connected the van looks to be placing too much downward load on my vehicle; and so so close to the ground.
I do use WDH, and my tug is sitting pretty level.
How do I lift the "level" of my van whilst connected, and still be able to open the rear door??
