I received a message through G/N regarding what size drive tyres I use. 6.50.16.
I run them at 60 PSI. Maximum revs is 2500, which gives me a good fuel consumption, at 90/95 kph.
Reason I am putting this down on a "new" sheet, is that my PC "ate" the original enquiry from Baz.

Thanks for the reply. I am also using 650/16 tyres which give me 95km/h at 3000 revs....a little high. As the tyres are getting old I am considering going to 700/16.....but although this will decrease my revs...I am concerned about performance......the question is how severely.

From my experience you will not notice the difference between the two, sorry !
I looked up a Bridgestone specs sheet on line and it says this for the two sizes in a radial light truck pattern tire.
650r 16 LT overall diameter 749 mm
700r 16 LT overall diameter 778 mm
That is an increase in diameter of about 4% by my calculations. So get the bigger ones if you wish but do not expect any real big changes either way.
If you want a bigger change then look at the available diffs for various models.

Even tho the tyres may have a bigger rolling radius....just make sure they are not too much wider...otherwise the tyres will "kiss" each other if it is duals. Tyres "kissing" is a no no ....as it generates extra heat and resistance ...usually resulting in a blowout of one ...and maybe..both. Not a pretty scene I can tell you !!.

Thanks for the input, I have already changed down to the lowest "highway" diff available. Today I had a chat to my local tyre power dealer who couldn't shed any light, although at my request he did inspect the gap between the two tyres and assures me that there is sufficient room. I will be taking the van to Sydney next week, so I will try to get a feel perhaps adjusting up to 500 revs less which is my estimate in the effect of the larger tyres.
Perhaps the safest bet will then be to buy a cheap sacrificial set and if satisfactory replace with a new set.....a small loss is better than a large one I suppose!!!! Thanks again for your thoughts,
