Today we arrived at Hervey Bay and went to settle in to our site with the assistance of one of the staff. While helping to back us in he yelled to stop. The drain was blocked and not a pretty sight. The outgoing caravanner had emptied their porta pottie down the sullage hole. If that was not bad enough, the fresh solids were left sitting all around the hole. The staff member was very quick to collect the neccessary tools, hose and disinfectant to fix the problem. To say we were all disgusted is an understatement. He said he was going straight back to contact them for payment and was going to black ban them from this park. Really how low can you go. By the way, the dump point was three sites away.

Must have been the bloke we saw that stayed at Goolgowi Rest Area overnight near us. He had a posh 24ft van with an en-suite. Got up in the morning & had a ''bog'' right next to the only picnic table. LOVELY!

We were in the Queens Beach Park at Bowen a couple weeks ago having coffee under our awning when a bloke drove his car onto the vacant site next door, lifted his boot and took out the toilet cannister and proceeded to empty it straight into the sullage drain. we and the people opposite stared in amazement and then I said twice, "hey that's not a dump point", he didn't reply so the third time I walked over (5 metres) and said 'that's a sullage drain, not a dump point, the dump point is 40 metres down the road and has sign in front", he said, "Sorry, I thought that this was it, anyway it's OK it's got no bad stuff in it".
He was a pommie, maybe that was his excuse but it just goes to show their are not only some low people out there but also in this case, some pretty dumb ones.

We were just at the Mt Morgan (Qld) free camp idyllic spot on Rifle Creek - it has a dump spot next to toilet block - Yet I witnessed a grub remove his toilet cassette walk out of sight towards the creek, then return with empty cassette, put it back in van and drive away.

We stayed at a Big 4 park in Sth Dandenong a few years back and were told by management that every site had a dump point which turned out to be the sullage drain ! Being an ex plumber I didn't use it as such . Even City health inspectors couldn't give a rats !

Disgusting behaviour, recently a dump point we visited had not been hosed down by the previous user, not a nice site, bad enough emptying our own, but we do clean up after ourselves. We will use the bush somewhere if there is no nearby dump - but this usually out in the scrub somewhere.

When I see this sort of disgusting behavoir I have to say something to them even if I get abuse back as they are the sort that ruin it for everybody.
The same as the backpacker who use the toilet paper in the bush and don't taake it with them in a plastic bag or bury the paper, it doesn't take much effort

Lance - hopefully he got really sick from his disgusting behavior.
We use both CPs and free camps and generally we've not had these problems. But it really gets me to see the paper "snow" all around rest areas and sometimes faeces on the tar sealed road area - aren't these people worried someone might pull into that area and see them squatting down ????
It amazes me how dirty a few people can be.
I do get tired of cleaning public dump points when it hasn't been washed down. I wet the whole "bowl" area before use and then wash it down properly afterwards - I use a cassette and never miss the drain pipe - but wash it out well afterwards. In case the shire/council don't supply a hose for the water, I carry a 2 metre length of garden hose just for this purpose - quick to access, use and put away.

We were in Onslow a couple of years back, found our Portable Loo was in need of empting so off to the local Tourist information joint we went, driving very carefully with the "Slop Slop" sound of the Loo coming from the rear of the Patrol.
At the information place, we were told where there was a CMCA Dump Point right in town, one street back from the main drag, we found it very easily as Onslow is pretty small.
I lifted the blue hinged lid and almost heaved, the rotten thing was full to over flowing it was only the lit around the raised plastic lid support holding all the filth from flowing all down the road, and Boy what a stink, must have been like that for some time.
I went back to the information joint and told them about it, the only response I got was, " Ah the locals have been using it again" and the attitude of the person I reported it to was, couldn't care less, not my problem.
For this reason and the fact that the place was full up with miners, we decided to free camp out on the road to Old Onslow around 40km out of town beside the river,
By the way I did empty the loo, but it was well out of town and down a hole I dug about 1/2 click off the main road,
We've seen Onslow and wont be going back to that stinking hole again.

We camped at Saw Pit free campground near Portland VIC. Pulled in late afternoon & didn't visit the drop toilet until it was dark. I lifted the lid then sat down. Someone had crapped all around the edge of the cistern then put the seat down. When I sat on the seat it oozed out like a chocolate doughnut or squeezing a hot peanut butter sandwich putting a perfect ring of crap around my bum cheeks. I heard a squishing sound & shone the torch on myself. I went back to camp with my pants around my ankles & my wife helped me clean up. I'd love to run into the ''dirty dog'' that did it!

There is plenty of dirty scumbags about, last year down at Green Lake, there was a guy with a big bus and trailer with a 4x4 and boat on top. The bus was for sale for a lot of $$$$$ I for get how much. It had everything, a real mansion and he was a bit of a snob. When he drove out he had his black water tank outlet open and it drained all along the sites and road on his way out. He really left a lasting memory of himself.. Mongrel !!

I remember that guy, Sarg - was a real snob from memory. If we have been where we had to contain grey water, we will often stop on a side road and empty it onto grass. But black water - only one or two places for that - a dump point or way out in the bush, in a hole or cover it over (wild dogs and other animals will dig it up, even if you dig a hole), it usually dissolves into nothing after a while. Solo Steve was the one who named the floating loo paper - "bumwiperum of the genus sorbentica (not sure if the spelling is right).

At the Mareeba DP a friend was emptying his cassette and another bloke from the same park has come along and just dumped his splashing the contents all over our friend and then taking off.
The discussion in the park has revealed this bloke is just one of those "who cares as long as I am alright" types.
It is something I will be keeping an eye out for though.
