I use talcum powder around the wheels ,hoses ,and power lead ,and jockey wheel,on the 4 corner legs I fill the plastic feet with water, and make shore there isn't any trees or shrubs touching the van where the little buggers can get to the van.

Hi, we carry a plastic bottle of Ant and wasp dust, 350g.bayer product. If the ants are noticeable we sprinkle a bit about.
At home I park our van on rubber mats and the drop down legs a smaller piece.
Rumour has it ant don't like walking on rubber. The other thing people do is use small containers filled with water placed under there legs.
One time I parked to close to a tree and the ants were on the roof, so be careful there also.
Talcom powder works a treat also but will not get rid of them where bayer product will.
Hope this helps. Ralph.

We use Ant Sand available from Supermarkets or Hardware a couple of brands available, gets rid of ants very fast especially around where you are seated under the awning.
Can also be sprinkled on the roof and awning if ants are dropping down out of overhead trees, not very noticeable and can be brushed or hosed off if no longer needed it works by killing the ants.
Cheers

I'm really sad you think you have to kill ants, its a whole eco system you are destroying.
Ants are adverse to strong smells, get a small spray bottle and mix a few drops of peppermint oil or eucalyptus oil in water and spray where you think you need it.
This is also a remedy I use for ticks, I spray it on my clothes, hat and shoes.
Cheaper and way better for our environment. Ants have a job to do, you just happen to park in the middle of their work, think of it as diverting the traffic and let them get on with it.

Well I hate ants ! when you've had a severe infestation you become a little immune to being a tree hugger greenie.
I spray with David Greys ant and termite spray, it's only Permethrin based so safe with pets etc. as for talc, well it might work in southern climates but up north they just march over it, a good smear of vaseline on cables or bottom of legs also keeps the invaders away.
As I've said before it's far easier to keep them out than remove them once they've set up home, and I'll say it again I hate the buggers whatever good they are supposed to do.

When we stay at our son's home in Brisbane it would not be possible to sit outside under the awning or stay in our van without using ant sand as there are ants nests everywhere on the ground and dropping out of the trees, so the only way is to eradicate them while we are there, next time we come back the problem is still there so I don't think we are committing genocide re the ant population.
