I will not be using my motorhome for about 6 months.
My water tanks hold 120 litres of fresh water and I am not sure whether to drain the tanks.
I am worried about the water going stale and/or the seals drying out.
I do not have any filtration system.
Any advice would be appreciated.

We just top ours up when storing, drain & refill before we travel. Forgot to do that last trip, just topped up & went, water was fine after being in the tanks for 6 months.

I do the same, flush the tanks after a trip then refill with fresh water for storage and if the period is over a long time re-flush and fill for the next outing.

add a teaspoon of household bleach to each tank and leave for about a week. Any baddies will be killed and chlorine will disappear - water wont taste odd

oh....if each of your tanks hold about 120 lt - then make it about a tablespoon of bleach.

Same here, have always done this with caravans and now our motor home over a period of 40 odd years, never had water deteriorate in any way.
One tip, only use a clean hose to fill with, we have a short length of hose (about a meter long)with a snap on connector that we carry with us, snap it onto the service station hose or whatever before filling. we know it hasn't been used for anything unsavory
We were using a dump point in Alice Springs a couple of years back, a young bloke with a wife and kids pulled up in a vehicle towing a pop top, grabbed the dump point wash down hose jammed it into the filler tube and proceeded to fill his water tank, tried to explain this was not a good idea, might as well have been talking to the wall.
You really don't want your water coming into contact with fecal material , decomposing animals or similar.
It's all about cleanliness, don't allow bugs into your water tank in the first place and you won't have to kill em.
