Hi Jim
We carry a 175 DT yamaha n the rear of the van, it weighs approx 85 Kg full of fuel, had to put the van spare tyre in the tug, have done 2 laps around Aust so far with out any issues (touch wood) it has been used a fare bit. Boys in blue have checked it out in a few states and to date no issue..

We used to carry a Yamaha 100DT which was the lightest registrable dirt bike available.
I had a serious injury while doing 40kph and then spent over a year in and out of hospital (successfully) trying to save the leg from amputation.
So no more motor bikes.
Having a bad accident a long way from home is a serious issue.
I owe the RFDS big time.
Cheers,
Peter

Lots of stuff hanging off rigs, boats, motor bikes, bicycles & we've even seen an ultra-light aeroplane.
Considering the weight penalty & resultant higher fuel usage of this stuff, is it really worth lugging around for the amount of times it's used?

I have been thinking about this for some time and think I will go with an electric bycycle. 25 kph capable 50 km range , some foldable and only 25 kg and for around $1000 and if I could charge it by solar even better no running cost at all.
Down side no suspension and skinny seat not much padding and probably won't do wheel stands down the street like I used to do on my 550 yamaha and 600 Honda. buggar

Got an 80cc scooter. Picking up a Ranger next week. Hoping that my scooter will fit in the back. The Spyder definitely wont.

We carry 2 fold up electric bikes (although we don't fold them) one in the tray of the tug and one on the back of the van. Landy
Hi all,
Does anyone take a trail bike on your travels, and can you carry it a the back of your caravan.
I am thinking of just a small unit to play with 125cc to keep the weight down.
Hey Jim
Also would be a danger re the stability of the van.
Would also use somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of your load allowance.
If you do want to take one, work a way to carry in the vehicle (perhaps a ute).
Hi Ian,
It is just a thought. Back to pedal power. I'm just getting lazy.
Jim
If you motorhome is big anough you can hang a Gold-Wing on the back
