Well folks spent a great day here in Townsville, and even a better day being chauffeured around by Dougwe's Townsville Tours Yes the man himself Dougwe came out in his air conditioned Collie and took us all, yes, that included C3 on a great tour of Townsville. There was a climb to the castle and even a trip to the twins hideaway Anyway a big yay for the day to Dougwe for his generous giving of his time and knowledge of Townsville.

Gee, fanks mate. It was my pleasure C1, great to see you and C2 again and as for C3, my little mate was well behaved all day. She never asked if we were nearly there yet, once.
Travel safe on the next leg of your jouney and keep safe.

Hi Doug. Is there spot anywhere closer to Townville than Blue Water for a overnighter? We'll be coming through in just over a weeks time.

Not a free camp but Black River Stadium is about 20km from CBD. I was there today and busy but still room for your big rig.
All the free camps north of Townsville are chockers.
Edit.....Just remembered, you might get into the BP servo in south townsville, just out the back. Can't remember address but it is in Wiki.

Don't be tempered to go further south to the Caltex Servo at Alligator Creek cos it's closed and fenced off now.

Dougwe!
Is Rollingstone free camp area still open? Yoused to camp there before it was dolled up with parking areas and a camping limit. Council then came around with free wood and we walked up to the pub across rail line. We left tugs and vans in the park and get the rattler into Townsville to shop. See they have moved the station now to near where the old dump was. Coppers from the cop station yoused to come around and check each new commers number plate and that was it. Could park there as long as you like as long as clean and no problems.

It was a couple of weeks ago. It was full as a boot like all the other free camps north of Townsville. The CVP's have filled up as well due to School Holidays, Townsville Show long weekend this weekend and the V8's next weekend. Busy busy busy. It should settle a bit after all that. Best to keep off the roads as much as possible me thinks.
