It was reported on the radio in Perth this morning that there was a build up of slow moving traffic on the Great Northern Highway,
At first it was thought there had been an Accident, but on further investigation by the Radio Station,
it was found that the bank-up was caused by a great number of Grey Nomads all leaving Perth, for the warmth of the North at the same time.

KJ, I don't think it would be just GN's, more than likely people on school holiday break as well.

Could still be some happy school campers as the hols didn't start here in QLD until today but all last week there were 100's of school kids aroumd with adults. Seems like parents take kids out of school for that last week of term these days.

Well, all I can say is what I heard on the radio,
Sure, there maybe a mob of early school leavers amongst the hundreds on the highways but,
"US, GREY NOMADS" have been blamed for holding up the traffic with our Caravans !!
Just wondering what happened to so called school holidays, not supposed to start till the week end and we've got the little devils everywhere since last weekend.
We normally steer clear of the holidays like the plague, but this one is hard to miss as we overwinter in the NW WA, I'm actually bailing out and leaving my good lady to it to mind the fort, I'm off to Perth to escape it !
Sorry if I'm a grumpy old fart , just cannot stand the thoughtless parents and out of control kids.

Sorry to inform you Brian but, You won't escape the little perishers by escaping to Perth,
They are already running amuck here,
We have to put up with trail Bikes screaming up and down the street at all hours,( usually standing up on the back wheel ) riding their bloody two strokes,
But when we also have to listen to the cops sirens as well, as they try to catch the Devils, it's no wonder all our old neighbours have taken off with their caravans in tow.

Queensland holidays started last Friday and Victoria holidays the week before that. Lots of kids on the road with their families, no doubt some of them went to WA.
Maybe they are not thoughtless parents with out of control kids, maybe the parents are letting them have the time of their lives while not having to go to school. They are not all bad.

A lot of private schools break up a week before the government ones, so that could the main reason for kids around.

We were up that way a few months back Scouser, The flies drove us mad so, If you are heading that way, I would suggest you stop off at any camping store and buy some fly nets, the type that go over your hat and cover your face completely,
At least you will be leaving the cold weather behind, the average temp up there at present is 25deg C,
