I agree.....but after the 1st GFC, I don't think the EU will allow that to happen.
At the moment, it seems that Greece and the EU are playing "whoever talks first looses", but at some stage both parties will concede enough to each other that no pollie looses face, irrespective of whether or not its long term good or bad for that country

Maybe one of the other countries nearby need to buy Greece for the amount needed to pay off all it's debts. Then add it to their country, to be in control and manage it.

Hi brickies.
A big fat NO. Greece as a % of the worlds economy makes up 1.2% total. has a population of 11 .7 million people.
Take AUSTRALIA as an example. population of 25 million people. we make up 2.6% of the worlds economy. Yes we export our natural Resources to the world Iron ore, Coal, Grains x 12, Beef, lamb.
With no disrespect to the people of Greece. They up till now automaticly get an age pension from 50 years of age.
They have tourism as a commodies.
However today our finance bodies will play tag along. Our share markets will follow along too. Great if you are cashed up. Money Makes Money they allways say.
When the markets are down I come out to play.
Just sit tight and things will be fine.
Regards Jim

I am with you Kandagal, we head off on the 19th, and am just waiting for the right moment to buy.
Regarding the market, I suspect will be bigger than the size of the Greek economy deserves. The market is driven by perceptions not facts.

Hi Plendo,
Might get some extra cheap Greek banks soon. Keep holding for now.
I'm Thinking of some second hand, ATMS going for a good price soon.

I reckon having a chain attached to your wallet might be a good idea,
there must be hundreds of very poor Greeks looking for an easy buck, walking the streets at the moment.

I was surprised to note that the ASX is virtually running line ball for today 30th.
After the DJIA dropped a huge % I thought that the ASX would follow, but maybe we had our big dip yesterday.
But it is not over yet, and more falls could follow. I very much doubt that we will get back to 4500 pts let alone 4000pts.
But the ASX is the most unpredictable beast in this country.

Been done before. The Yanks bought Alaska off Russia. And didn't some of the other US states get bought from European countries.
