We had one night at the new free camp then headed out to Marble Bar for a couple of days, well worth the trip.
Arrived back in the Port again today & yes the grass has been cut & a couple of bins installed. Looks like a new place now with about 14 here tonight so word is spreading.
I also see on Wiki that some on has re listed it as being at the entry point, not the place to camp as it is well sign posted so I made a comment of correction on that listing.

Good to see another camp being made available JC. Also good to see you updating Wiki, Wiki is only as good as we travellers make it.
Keep Safe the both of you.

Good to hear JC - and also thanks from me about updating wiki. It annoys me when you see a site (CP or free) and its been given 3 or 4 stars but no comments, prices - nothing. Or just as bad - comments, but no prices listed - grrrrr......as Doug says, wiki is only as good as what the users input.
Like to old IT saying: Crap in, crap out !! (yep - used to be a common phrase in the industry)

Glad you got to visit Marble Bar JC, those choc top hills on the way in are fantastic.
Been there a few times and would go again if I was up that way.

JC, is the free camp in Port Hedland proper???? or South Hedland. Was asked by another traveller and then told to just check. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know too shekon, I think there were a couple of free camps on the road from the northern highway to Marble Bar if heading inland to go there from north of Pt Hedland (good bitumen road), should be in the Camps book. Back road from Mt Newman is not sealed and is subject to flooding and rough in areas.
