After reading the last post on solar it got me thinking with so many questions continually being asked is it time for our dearly beloved Cindy to consider it for its own forum topic.
Just asking for thoughts

Can you have forums within forums? i.e. Solar within Techies.

Just noticed that there are sub-forums (e.g. Recommendations). Not really fussed if it's a sub-forum or forum in its in own right.

If anyone read the Rules of the Forum, they would know that they're supposed to post In the correct places. What do you think all the different headings mean ?
I've given up complaining about it. Everything just gets posted on the General thread these days. How the hell do you think you're going to find info. at a later date, about something you've read on the Forum, if you have no idea where to look for it ?
I don't know why Cindy doesn't just move posts to their proper places, like moderators do on other Forums.
That's enough of me again for a while.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Apologies Cindy, but my last post on Solar was not intended to be technical, and was not aimed at the people that read techies, but more at the general populace that would like to understand more.

What about a forum where people had to post and reply in a civil fashion.

This is what I have been writing about on many occasions. Concentrate relevant discussions on the same subject in ONE place. Unfortunately it keeps falling on deaf ears. How many time does the subject of WDH pop up and the same questions asked? If it was all in one place you will get all the discussions together.

Gee Sheba I hope I got this question of mine in the right place if not I humbly apologise but I thought it was the place to pose a question as I didn't see one with a heading " solar information "
All said tounge in cheek
Perhaps I should join Dougwe in the naughty room :)

Wouldn't you have thought that it should have gone in the "Techies" thread ? Sorry if I seem short lately, but there are so many topics on the General Page that should go in other places, it's getting ridiculous.
Doesn't seem to be any point in having different threads any more.
Cheers,
Sheba.

While we are at it what drives me nuts is that a subject that has been posted on does not go to the top of the page, but no matter how many posts it receives it slowly disappears to the previous page while subjects that get very little input continue to clutter the top of the current page in a continuing stream.
Many forums have a system that moves a topic back to the top when it receives a new post, keeping those topics most people are interested in at the top.
Is that difficult to achieve with this forum structure?

Sheba thanks for your thoughts but in my little mind I did not think that this was a technical question more a general one hence why I thought general was the place for it.
I do agree there are some other posts here that I would have posted in other places however.
Thanks for the invite Dougwe I have close to 1.5 gig of movies that should entertain us for awhile sorry I can't do the popcorn though I'd rather eat cardboard

Thanks for the suggestion, Woody n Sue. I think it's an excellent idea and have added the new subforum 'Solar Panels' to the 'Techies Corner' section. I hope it will help people to find and post info about this topic in one place.

Thanks Cindy,
I thought it was not an unreasonable request. Some who join this forum are not quite so "forum savvy" as others. Anything that makes it more user friendly and saves clogging up other threads can only be a good thing. Anything that helps so called "newbies" and the rest of us can only be a good thing. Over the last few years I have seen many requests on "techies corner" and other, for info on solar. Since this is a major source of power for many GN's, a dedicated thread only seems logical.
