I was ca ping a while back , the area was really clean and tidy ,
i was thinking how good it is to be at this place ,
Alas a large dog poo was there just waiting for someone to walk on
Not far away i noticed a small dog near a tree where people might camp
Doing a poo , no owner to be seen anywhere.
No lead on the dog either .,is it a legal requirement for dog owners to have their dog
on a lead in public places where other people camp AND clean up the dog poo .
Perhaps we don't have to be concerned about the health of our friends and fellow campers.........?

sadly, its not only the camp sized areas that owners allow their dogs to do this and don't clean it up. We were for ever cleaning up the front edge of our lawn in a middle class and well established suburb. The footpath was on the other side of the road and that was like walking down a lamp mine dog poo track.
Often owners would walk their dogs on our side of the road so they would do their thing on the grass, rather than the footpath - how decent of them, but few ever carried a plastic bag to pick up the mess.
Don't blame the dog - its the bloody owners.
In a dog friendly CP recently I saw a dog owner letting her dog empty out on a well used grassed area. She had no intention of picking it up and was about to walk off until I bailed her up. I gave her the option of going back to her RV and getting a plastic bag and coming back immediately or I would complain to the Managers. After a few dirty words out of this middle aged females mouth, she went and got a bag and cleaned it up. Didn't see her dog in the area again.
But its people in your suburbs and in CPs like this that cause problems for responsible dog lovers

poo anywhere as long as it is not in their own yard or camp site
IT is good that you confronted that woman , more people should be more pro active
in confronting such low life dog owners.
these are the dog lovers that let their dogs
run about ( no lead) annoying other campers .

yep its funny that these people seem to have a total disregard for others whether it be where they live or camp and the hide to give you a mouth full if you complain to them well my solution is keep the dog and shoot the owner

I have a dog he is my only son as well as 3 daughters! We go for a walk twice a day, at least (thats the son and me of course) I always pick-up, its not difficult. There is absolutely no excuse not to pick-up anywhere. In Perth most parks have bins and poo bags as I guess they do in others towns and cities. I have bags with me all the time as well as in the van, car and house. If we are free camping I put the used bag in the wet bag fitted on the spare wheel, rear wheel carrier of the tug them empty at the next appropriate dump bin. I get totally p****d off seeing so much dog crap not picked in parks, paths and free camps, just as I do when I see so much human waste and toilet paper in and around the bushes and trees at free camps. It is both these groups that are the problem, somehow the message needs to be conveyed to these morons.

We do the right thing with our Boxer but it seems to us that little white fluffy lap dogs are exempt from any park rules as far as being on a lead or pooping when & where they like.

Dogs can be very valuable animals
some people absolutely need A dog , not 2 or 3, for various reasons ,
however that does not excuse people from being so darn lazy and uncaring ,
Look at a camper who lets their pet run about untethered .
Letting it getting In to mischief and annoying others
these campers are very uncaring people who need to be criticised
by all who make an effort to do the correct thing..

I live across the street from a large park in an inner suburb of Ballarat. Many people bring their dogs to this park for walks/exercise, some even turn up in cars, but I am amazed at the extremely low percentage that actually clean up after their animals. I am convinced many bring their animals to the park, not for exercise but just to crap in someone else's back yard. I actually offered plastic bags to one middle aged couple who regularly let their 3 dogs run loose in the park and the response was a mouthful of obscenities along the lines of "what do you think parks are for."
I give up.

We travel with three small Lhasa Apso show dogs and ALWAYS pick up after them, eve at home when walking them in the neighborhood. I think it is most bad mannered NOT to pick up after them. I get very annoyed with people who generalise about dog owners!!!

There are some people who take their dogs to a park just to do it on someone elses grass rather than their own - they don't exercise the dog. They get it out of the car stand there and watch the dog run round, squat and then call it back and drive off.
Peter - don't be too sensitive - most of us writing on this post are dog owners and we are like you - responsible about this issue, letting your dog rush at people who might be scared of dogs and most importantly LOVE our four legged family.
We have german shepards but don't take them with us in our van as many CPs regard the breed as dangerous and many other people are just plain scared off them. If they are well bred and socialized from a puppy, just are one of the most friendly of dogs and love attention from strangers. Each of the many leads we have for our two dogs have a little plastic canister attached to it which have a compressed pile of small plastic bags inside. They are sold by large pet shops and are specific to attach to a lead and then pull one bag out at a time to use to collect your dogs droppings.
Lastly (yeah....Im getting boring - sorry), I wonder how many of these irresponsible dog owners stand in their own dogs poo or from other such owners - heaps, I wish !!
