A reminder to have respect for LPG and it's danger always turn cylinder off when not using it

Ravenshoe is a great Community hope all those injured recover soon visited there for few days and stayed at the Station Caravan park also purchased a takeaway pie for lunch from the shop.

Just think, anyone of us could have been sitting in that shop enjoying a cuppa. Scary!!!

When we stayed there a bloke came up and started chatting about the free camp and the town in general. A real friendly bloke, I thought he was another
traveler, Turns out he was the Mayor

no doubt the gas tank was turned on because they were open and trading so the gas cookers (naked flames) would have been on. Watching it on TV, looks like the gas tank ruptured and the gas cooker flames ignited the gas. But even if it had not been trading, when a tank is ruptured with such violence, any sparks from the impact would be enough to ignite the gas.

Perhaps gas cylinders in retail premises need to be located or have a physical barrier around them so the tank cant be spilt in such circumstances - but how practical would that be ????

Is this just a tragic accident that couldn't have been foreseen?

I agree with you Bruce & Bev, of course the gas was on, they were open for business. Otherwise there wouldn't of been any customers to be injured eh??
It is such a tragedy, we just don't know from one day to the next what can happen. I do feel sorry for the family also of the vehicle involved. Hope everything
turns out fine for all involved.

The café was in it's busiest time with a shop full of customers. The gas bottles were out the back of the building being used to run the cooking. A sad accident that no one could have foreseen. Terrible, terrible situation. It has been said the driver might have suffered a heart attack before his vehicle went out of control.
