My System Restore won't, and I don't know why. It goes through the procedure, then tells me nothing has been restored. Would it be because I'm stubborn, and still running XP ?
Also about the same time, I lost a complete folder of Pics., and I don't know how. Been trying to find them, but can't.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Try searching for them, hold down the windows key + f, in the search box type in *.jpg
See what it finds this is assuming the pics are in jpg format. Good luck with your search.

Gday...
My son is a pooter tech and says If running XP, the message usually means the restore point files have been damaged or modified. It MAY still restore, even though it says it didn't.
All I know is more often than not, if XP goes through the process then message box Fails, it will have restored mostly everything.
So is the pooter working properly? ... You have been able to logon and get internet and the forum so it must be working pretty well?
Cheers - John

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with it. Got a few more things to try yet. Sorry Murraman, yours didn't work. If all else fails, I'll have to visit my friend up the highway. Don't like to trouble him these days though, as he is in a gradual decline.
Cheers,
sheba.

Try restore in safe mode Sheba.
Press start AND KEEP HITTING F8 at 100mph.
A black screen will open and select from the choices ie safe mode and Windows XP.
It will look totally different colours etc but don't worry, PLUS IT WILL BE A BIT SLOW TO START ALSO, a gain don't worry.
Worked for me a few times.
Whilst in safe mode scan for viruses.
Also scan these from Microsoft as you may have a virus(s).
A lot of times your Anti Virus program won't let you do the restore point. Go into the AV settings and disable it while you do the restore. You will have to go back in and enable it again when you're finished.

Sheba, open Windows Explorer from task bar. On the left hand side you will see a list of entries, one named "Libraries". Right click on libraries and a box will come up showing a number of options including "restore default libraries". Right click it and hey presto.

Thanks anyway Pete. I obviously get a very different Page than you do. Nothing at all like that.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Try going to an earlier restore point.

Tried every one already Troopy. Tried shutting down the Anti-virus thing as well, but that didn't work either. Think I'll just take it to my friend, and hope he's well enough to fix it.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Did you try what I suggested,,, that's how I fixed my problem. It took hours to fix and I had a serious virus that prevents updates to all security systems.

I hope these still work for XP, you can but try.
Good luck.
