Was at Burren Junction recently. Camp spots OK - has toilets and showers. Water was nice and hot at the water pipe but only warm around the other side of the round concrete 'mushroom' pool. People who are a bit short on physical height may find the water too deep. Personally, I find Pilliga Bore much better (30ks south) - but stay off the black soiled area if it's wet.

We were at Pilliga a week ago. In my mind it is a better pool and camp than Burren even with a $5/night(pay at the cafe in town)

Yep. We stayed there May last year and there was algae in the water. Council guys came and dropped chlorine in the water which helped and upped the flow so the water went from warm to nice and hot, but being a shorty, I had already had a swim and probably got a mouthful because it is too deep for most short people. I had a terrible night and next day with a tummy bug and ended up dropping into Moree hospital for anti nausea/vomiting drugs. Pilliga was much more pleasant. We also found the parking at Burren Junction very regimented whereas Pilliga has a much more relaxed feel - and the pool MUCH more enjoyable.
