Been reading a bit about putting in a house split A/C rather than two Ibis roof units, from what I have read the power draw of the Ibis units is a lot more than a split system. So I am thinking mounting an inverter A/C on the back bumper and having one outlet in the bedroom, but would like a second outlet in the lounge area and not sure what would be the easiest way to take ducting (I presume) from the inverter to the lounge area, maybe over the roof in a custom tunnel, or can ducting be passed through the space between skins which is about 65mm? Or run under the floor along the chassis and then up -- but that seems hard.
The bus is 11 mtrs long. but there will be doors splitting it into three sections.
open to all for and against, and ideas

Fujitsu inverter on our old Coaster, Daikin inverter on our new one, pulled the roof Dometic out on our LWB & fitted a vent, best move we ever made. Daikin runs on just 510 watts in 40 degrees & can be run on our house batterys via the inverter.
Photos are of our old Coaster new one is located similar.

fantastic The Doo crew, that is what I was hoping to hear. I shall now do some comparisons on power usage and efficiency etc. Which do you reckon was better the Fujitsu or the Daiken?

I know with the fujitsu you can buy units that run more than one head unit, dont know the lowest power draw unit in this type but we have a unit in the house with 3 headd units and it can take 4. We have a split sytem on our van and our power usaged halved from the standard van unit. We used to run the van unit only when in the van, power usage was around $50 a week, the split was on 24/7 and power usage was about $22 on average. This was in Broome through two wet seasons

Daikin is far more efficient than the Fujitsu just on age alone, the Fujitsu was the first of the small inverter splits available at the time within a reasonable cost. (10 years ago)
Daikin is a very recent fitment & many hours of research went into power consumption vs cooling vs weight before the "L" series was chosen. Weight was a biggest one as it was going to be roof mounted only with no lower supports down to the bumper like the old girl.
Could run the Fujitsu for about 2 hours in the Pilbara heat before we were down to critical power levels on battery's (300ah @ 12v) & we never carried a genny or solar, LWB has 600ah of battery power @ 24v a two way VSR, plus 500w of solar & a 1kva genset as a backup for everything if required. The 1kva will run the aircon, battery charger & even the hot water at a pinch.
Some fit flexible hoses, something I have never done, just use good quality copper the same as the house & never had an issue even after thousands of kms on the most trying of goat tracks.
Do the research on what suits your needs, don't believe the spiel that sales people try to feed you as there is so many options out there.

Dont forget Mitsubishi, they make, 1, 2 and 3 head a/c units, their draw is good to. Seen a few of them in buses.

I have a Fujitsu on our van, absolutely brilliant, it cools quickly and quietly, and I have seen it running the compressor on about 300w, others might be better I do not know, but I am happy with mine.
I bought mine in June during the winter sale, cost me less that $500, I see the same sale is now being advertised again.

510 watts was the MAXIMUM it would draw, once the interior has cooled down it uses about the same as my 24v compressor fridge.
