i'm looking at buying a camping shower, any suggestions On what works for you or to stay away from.

Hi there - We had a Coleman gas portable hot water/shower system together with a tent. Found it was perfect for our needs and budget at the time. Don't waste your money on those cheap solar ho****er bags unless your budget is tight. Also bought the portable toilet. During 2 years of travelling, we managed to plan our stops well so the toilet was never used and the hot water system used only a couple of times as it was easier to just boil some water for washing up. Everything was sold in the tradein of our camper when we bought our motorhome in December.
I guess it depends on what type of camping you are planing as that will dictate what sort of system you need.

G'day Mully. I purchased one of those little pumps that run on a 12 volt battery and a couple of solar bags as well. When I am out bush I use them to save having to clean up the ensuite and to preserve the water supply. They are really good and it will surprise you how much of a shower you can have from just a bucket of water. If the solar has heated up the water I use that in the bucket otherwise just heat up some water and voila! I also have a shower tent and managed to purchase the lot from one of the camping stores fairly cheaply.
I think they are all much of a muchness, but I guess you get what you pay for. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

You can get Battery operated [4 x D's] Portable Showers as well these days. Like the 12V ones, you have your water in a bucket. I only found out about them a couple of months ago. A friends' daughter uses one. Normal price at Jaycar is $29.99. I got mine for $10.00 less, when they were on sale.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, we have a camper trailer, sorry should said that, but again thanks, I feel us leaning towards the Coleman shower, along with the garden hose adapter.

I like the immersable (?) battery operated showers with the hand held shower head. Heat the solar bags through the day and empty into a bucket for a great shower. Word of warning, I found out the hard way. Be careful if you just use the solar 20 litre shower bags, 20 litres = 20 kilos. Shower tents can only handle 10 kilos at the most.
Just be patient the first 25 times you try to but the shower tent away.

We have a Primus one and it works well. Like this one.
03 Troopy - do you have a link for that unit - looks more solid than the other plastic jobs. Tried searching but only found one at an auction.

That's strange, I couldn't find a link for them either. We bought ours about 6 or 7 years ago at one of the camping/4WD shows from one of the larger camping gear places.

If yours has lasted 6 or 7 years then that is the reason they aren't available any more! Son only got 2 years out of his Companion unit before it started to play up although it did get a hard life.

Yeah troopies unit looks serious ! either that or take a site in a caravan park every few days and forget about having your own. Comfort can be more important than cost if travelling for a while I reckon.

To be honest, we haven't really used ours a lot in that time. But it has come in handy a couple of times out bush.. with or without the tent.
