We are hoping to buy a small campervan, most likely new.
it's very frustrating trying to find information, or SEE vans, outlets; especially here in Tassie, which is mostly where we will be using it.
? seems we need to travel to 'mainland' to see/drive
have not seen any groups/forums for Hi Ace kind of vans. lots more questions if we find one!
thanks TAS Quoll

Hire companies might be the place to go. Britz site, for example, shows several models and layouts. Don't underestimate the value of hiring one for a couple of days to see if such a vehicle will do the job. Many of the conversion companies show lots of layouts on their sites. I bought a Four Motion VW to do my own as the commercial offerings have lots of features I don't want and don't want to pay for.

G'day TQ
As well as following up Iza's thoughts above, you might also consider popping into several local caravan parks / shopping centres etc and talking to people in vans similar to the type you're considering, to ask them about the +'s and the -'s of their van's setup
If you consider taking along a $5 bag of chokky frogs as 'bribery' for their time with you, you might get heaps of feedback as well as seeing various floorplans & construction arrangements, all of which will make it easier for a final decision
Best of luck
Phil

My van was originally owned by a Tassie gentleman who brought it up to Melbourne to trade it in for something bigger. It has everything except a shower.
There must be more down there, keep looking. Perhaps ask around the Toyota dealerships. Good luck.
THANK YOU everyone! lot's of good advice, we will follow up.
we did hire a van for a week, to see if I froze to death or not!!
was all good, [despite 1 deg c at Cradle], with small fan heater and tons of down bushwalking gear!
just like backpacking [hiking] get dressed before get out of sleeping bag!
the model van was VERY old, tons rental km's , so not a good driving or layout example.
cheers Tas quoll
