after reading the forum recently about different types of cookers, hubby had a go at making one today. It worked but he wants to make a bigger fire box.

I built one at home out of bricks which works ok. I started to build another from 100ml steel, I have to learn to weld or get it welded to finish it.

My partners son built one, took him 3 try's to get the proportions right but does it go. He cooks everything on it, even done some mods that involve a wok which enable him to cook pizza. Its excellent stuff.

He's got it so it all unscrews for compact travelling. It will be fun sitting around feeding it sticks on a down day travel. funny the things you find fun when you don't HAVE to do them. Stuart welded parts of this. He said it's not pretty but he's getting better at it.
Thanks for your comments.

Nice one Gooba... where did you find the 90 deg bend and is it ali, S/S or what? I've got some PVC bends here, but not sure how long they'd last
I'm getting myself a little gasless MIG welder from Bunnings soon, so I might have a crack at making something similar... what boy doesn't like playing with fire

I saw one of these made from a 9KG and a 4KG gas bottle, cut down and empty of course. My son in law is into bio char production and is helping me make a rocket stove which produces the biochar. There are plans on the net for large and small stoves. Great to hear they are successful. Well done
Cheers

He's already going to change the design from the elbow to a "T" and plug. It's galvanised water Pipe. 3" BSPT thread (British standard pipe taper) he's seen it at Reece (in Victoria or plumbing supply shops) but he's had this for ages for (I'll need that one day )
he bought a gassless mig welder on line . Only a couple of weeks old but so far so good. Ahhhh you boys and your toys!!

Thanks Mrs Gooba :)
Make sure Mr Gooba holds his breath welding anything galvanised... nasty stuff those zinc fumes
