It was an adventure that is for sure. One that I do not think we will repeat in a hurry. A beaut spot though and worth the rattling and rolling. Nice to be back on the black stuff though for awhile. A great time had by all.
Great photos ladies. It is a beautiful spot, yes shame about the road.
Frangipani I see 53 in your blog address. It was a good year!
cheers Dianne

Cactus Beach is an interesting place to camp for a night or two. Quite unique.
Another worth while out of the way place in that area is Fowlers Bay - again good to camp a night or two there.

Hi frangipani
you seem to be burning the k's, have you done a fuel check to see what your economy is like. I did one a while ago and sitting on an average 95 -100 I was getting 12.75ltr per 100 Klm.
In the new year my bride and I will be doing Perth - Tassie and back (6wks) so I would be keen to know how you are travelling fuel wise.

Hi Peter 1059, all I can say is when we stop at the bowser, Miss Daisy has to foll half a tank, and my Athena only a quarter.
Jokes aside, i range approx 270ks on a quarter tank, I do have a long range fuel tank, and I also have an extra water tank. All I can say I'm fully equipped., hope this helps - Fran

Fran. Cant thank you enough for posting those pics. Chris and I did an around Oz in a Kombie in 1974. We stumbled onto Fowlers Bay and Cactus and stayed there for 2 weeks surfing. It was heaven with not a soul in sight. Just a track, the cave pocked headland and the beach. It has been on our bucket list to go back one day. At the end of our stay, short of food, we wandered into, I think, Port Sinclair, and whilst standing on the jetty saw a massive whit pointer glide past. I realised how lucky I had been. It was our extended honeymoon for a year around the country working/surfing. The Kombie died every 100ks or so. They are the memories that we hold so precious of before the realities of work, kids etc. The pics bring it all back.
Regards
phil and chris

Thanks weevil, very informative :)
Great reading the adventures of Shekon and yourself, but your supposed to keep out of sand traps....oh hang on, that's golf isn't it
Happy travels ladies
PS: If you're heading for WA I would be inclined to veer north for the warm weather Carnarvon and up north, dam cold in Perth at the present time....
Thanx Vic, yes its a bit cold at night, prob go up north after Norseman.,
Whatever you do Fran both your and Shekon enjoy yourselves, I know you both will do your best too.
