hi guys, just a question. we are planning on taking about 2 months next June /July 2016 and going up to Port Douglas.
we have a wedding to attend and thought what a great time to take some long service and look around up north.
do we need to pre book into caravan parks at that time of year, or can we wing it with only a few days notice?
I have heard it's very popular.

Being the Prime time to visit NQ I would Definitely advise Pre-Booking especially if wanting a site either in Cairns City area,
the Northern beaches and the Port Douglas/Mossman areas. I hail from Cairns and can guarantee that the Grey Nomads and anyone
escaping their Colder southern regions flock there in the 100's to possibly 1000,s at this time of the year.
Some van parks in Cairns are:
1. The Cairns Holiday Park.Ph. 07 40511467.
2. The Cool Waters Holiday Park.Ph. 07 40 341949.
3. First City Caravilla Caravan Pk. Ph. 07 40 541403.
4. Lake Placid Caravan Park. Ph. 07 40 392509.
5.Cairns Coconut Village Holiday Park. Ph.07 40 546644.
6. Palm Cove Caravan Park. Ph. 07 40 553824.
Just 40 ks South of Cairns at Fishery Falls is a beautiful Van park(Ph. 40 675283) if you want a Tranquil,Tropical and Relaxing stay. We stayed there for 10 mths back in 2010 for the first time while catching up with family and friends, the owners and park were terrific.
Cheers Kev.

Kev, Fishery Falls is south of Cairns, between Gordonvale and Babinda. Yes, it is a great van park.

We are currently staying at cool waters in cairns. Nice park, central but a bit expensive like they all are up here at this time of year.

Yes you are correct Phillipn and I know that but must have had a Hard drive overload (grey matter) and not reread it properly.
Cheers Kev.

thanks everyone. this has confirmed my suspicions that we will have to plan some what our holiday and book.
we now also think we may go up the coast one way and back inland via Normanton, Mt Isa, Longreach, Charleville.
depends on the time off I get. don't want to feel too rushed!
thanks Judy
