was going to add to another post but thunk it worthy of it's own post.
I only put enough in to make sure I could get to th 3 ways ok.
Unleaded price at Barkly was $1:89.9 . yep 1:90 a litre.
which was 40cents Over everybody else .
Yes , I know it is isolated , but knowing what it costs to run
road-trains , it still does Not cost that much , I reckon 30cents too much.

The excuse they gave me last year when it was $2.10 was due to them having to run a generator.I think their pie sales alone would cover that

$1.34 diesel at Pine Creek on Sunday- not the main servo on the hwy but down a side street where all the locals go - accepted a Coles discount docket.

My motto in regards to fuel is "If you want to go, you got to pay"
The first thing on my purchases when my pension come in is to fill up with diesel regardless of the price.
Otherwise I stay home.

Why not go way outback were these servo's are and set up a discount fuel servo in opposition, that will show them you are not to be mucked around with.
Cheers

Marj,
I totally agree with you, I cann't see the point of worrying about what I cann't change. If you want to go you just have to pay.

They have a bad reputation out there and I heard a few tales when I was in Camooweal for a couple of months last year, I keep telling the missus its good to lean on the bar just for the stories.
The price in Camooweal when we left was $2.05. So what can you do fill up when you can and look forward to happy hour.

The way I look at it is ....."now what would I do if that fuel stop wasn't there" I don't think many outback servo owners are rolling in cash - more probably rolling in debt.

I cannot believe that people complain so much over the remote area prices. Just think for a few minutes , 3generators to supply power.500 litres of fuel p day to run these gensets. Transport cost for all goods to keep the traveller happy. Cost of the gensets alone plus maintenance would shock a lot of people. Remember if you want to travel you have to expe t higher costs in remote areas!!
Now I will run and hide before I am blasted to hell and back by some people.

When we were there a couple of years ago I was told the gensets alone cost in excess of $75,000 per year to run.
The meals were fabulous if a little pricey by non remote standards but not over the top by any means.
bought some local wines while we were there too.
Will very likely be stopping there on the way back south this year too.
Just drove a car to th Territory for a mate.
