We have just driven south along the Bruce Hway between Gympie and Caboulture and were a bit surprised by the number of RVs heading north. Over one short stretch of 6km and 3.79minutes we counted 17 mostly caravans. Most of them must be over-nighting in CPS because the rest areas are coping OK. We stopped N of Gympie at the Curra Country Club. It offers free camping on flat bitumen or grass, 24hr hot showers and flushing toilets, good value drinks and cheap meals Friday and Saturday. Add to that really friendly volunteer staff and the fact that it is only 100M off the Hway, and yet we were one of two campers.
We also arrived at Gympie's Chatsworth Park free rest area just before sundown and there were a few spots still available.
All this and spectacular weather, you wouldn't be dead for quids.

You need to head north for the BS B&B. I am heading to "THE" Beach in Townsville. The twins love it there. You don't even need BS come to think of it.
I.T. I was thinking the opposite to you. The amount of vans etc heading south. Endless rows of 'em. No complaints from this little black duck as that leaves more room for me.

Beautiful one day then perfect the next, here in BrisVegas.
Had an almost perfect week down the road at Tallebudgera Ck. (Gold Coast) Haven't put the van on blocks yet. I think that I will go up the road to Somerset Dam & catch a pile of red claw (they're still out & about) & enjoy the magic days.
My neighbor is part way thru his caravanning trip down south ... all rugged up I expect. He should have turned left & not right when he hit the Gateway Highway!

Up yours Doug LOL. Temps in Melb (your home !!!!) supposed to drop to 6o this week at night and sun not expected to re-appear till Sunday.
We're at Akoonah Event Centre which is at Berwick and very popular at $21 night or $126 a week (cant find cheaper in this city). Had a camper trailer with two young parents and 2 kids turn up. Parked and put awning up facing to the wind. Went over and suggested that wasn't a great idea given to huge wind gusts we're having at the moment and that they needed to use as much rope as they had to tie down their awning to the trees and wooden posts nearby. Went past about an hour later and they had packed awning away - smart people. But hate to be in their pull out sleep roosts that are only covered in mesh at each end. We're in a 22 footer van with 2 other vans between us and the wind direction and some nights its rocking and rolling in our van (and yes, Im sadly trying to sleep)

Berwick!!!
We stayed for a few days at North Berwick in Scotland.
Just across the water from St. Andrews, home of Golfing, I think.
The weather there was beautiful (18 to 20?) with just a slight breeze.
We were in a B&B that looked like a Gothic Manor House overlooking the town & just a short stroll to the beach.

We are still in Cairns until Sat. when we will move up to Peeramon (near Malanda) to house sit for 6 weeks. Expect it will be a bit chilly up there on the Atherton Tableland.
