Hi All. An article in the current issue of the local newspaper states that TEN portable fridges have been stolen from campers since the beginning of 2015. Apparently they check out the new arrivals and then during the night help themselves. The Manager of the 1770 camping area has installed motion activated lighting in a bid to deter these thieving scum. Seems to me as though there is an opening for a fair dinkum copper in the area as 10 thefts in 5 months is almost unbelievable. I'll be there tomorrow so may get to meet one of these scumbags although I hope, for his sake I don't. Cheers.

Hi KK, this is one of my biggest concerns in this lifestyle, I saw a motion sensing light come video camera on feebay a whil back for about 100 bux, at least something like that will show the cops who done it but I doubt if that's admissable in court.
I guess the answer is lock everything up, but sad I have a soft cover for my ute a stanly knife would make short work of that one, I know electrify everything then the thieving buggers would be knocked out long enough to lock them up.
Cheers mate

Maybe if they got a job they wouldn't be low life "scum". That is the main thing I hate, stealing others belongings that they work very hard to get.

we keep our Waeco fridge padlocked to our van (including the Waeco stand) along with our ladder (on the back bumper and used to clean the solar panels and check the roof), our gas bottles. the 3rd gas bottle/table/Weber bbq. The only thing we don't lock up is our chairs and a 2nd table which we store under the van when not in use.
Campers are fair game for thieves. And also watch out if youre on a tourist bus - don't leave handbags, cameras etc onboard. A friend recently had an experience in Alice Springs where all the bus passengers were standing nearby being shown some tourist thing, while the locals got into the bus and started stealing (fortunately my mate kept looking at the bus and saw it - so 40 geriatrics hoppled quickly to the bus and the would be thieves took off - nothing got pinched

They get caught, they find god, they get off and if they die they get a televised funeral.
