I am a new owner of a 21' caravan and have been searching for a good caravan cover.
There are so many to choose from, most of them claiming to be the best, so I thought it be wise to ask the forum members which ones would be best to consider.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Kurt

Welcome to the gang Kurt, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I have often thought of this myself, mainly for during severe storms but being solo and full time in the playground wonder if it would be effective and how I would get it up on top of the van on my own anyway

I have a 21 ft van and I have a Camec caravan cover, very pleased with it. Our van is stored in a machinery shed with the cover on.
You will need 2 people to get it on the van.
We purchased ours from Amazon.

Thanks for that. I hadn't thought about needing two people but now realise it would be a real struggle doing it on your lonesome!

Wish I could remember the one I bought off EBay so I could tell you not to buy it. After about 8 months the inside of the cover turned to powder. Make sure you get a trusted brand

I bought a second hand Prestige cover off eBay for my 17" and Prestige is one of the better brands. It looked in perfect condition. My van sat, with the cover on, outside for about 3 years till just grabbing and pulling the material would tear it easily, presumably, due to the constant sun.
Problem with buying a good brand second hand cover is you don't know how old it is and if it has been used in the sun all it's life before you get it
Lesson learned.
BTW I could put it on by myself but took a bit of ladder moving and patience.
Cheers

Do some research on Google, there is heaps of information there that will explain the various materials used and how they wear. Bottom line is the more you pay the longer they last. Buy a cheap one and you will be lucky to get 12 months out of it. What ever you do don't use a silver tarp, it will ruin the outside of your van.

Gus - what is the problem with silver tarps? - I use one on my Avan and have some (new) painters dropsheets under the tarp to stop rubbing. No problems yet but I'm willing to learn.

Buying from eBay is great way to get a good brand, possibly, cheaper than local.

We purchased an OzTrail one, only lasted 6mths, took it back and got a full refund, was told it was faulty material, I wonder why they didn't do a recall?? It kept the water off but we found mold on the sides of the van and had to wash and polish it. We haven't bought another one, leaving it uncovered for now. They are such a pain to get on :(

Hi, I bought a new one off EBay when got new van last year, it didn't last 12 months, it also rubbed around wheel arches with the wind. They are also a head spin to put on ( like divorce head spin ) they are ok if no alternative ? Maybe invest in a good quality one if there is such thing anymore. Someone suggested using long broom handle to put on.
