The Kershaw Gardens free camp in Rockhampton Qld has been closed since cyclone Marcia as the surrounds have been declared unsafe.
The council is working to resolve all problems & hope to have it up & running again soon.
I have noticed that the stopover has been very popular with travellers. The free camp at woolwash Rockhampton is still operating.
Hope this assists with your travel plans.

Yes. I have seen campers parked up in the car park off the high way at the first set of lights north of the bridge, but haven't found out if anyone is being moved on from there.
Probably safe enough but noisier than the other park.

The free park opposite Stocklands is definitely closed at the moment.
Heaps of dirt, and tree rubbish all around area when I was there yesterday.
Staying at Riverside for a while. They lost 2 Cabins and a number of trees
but are still operating.
