A fellow traveller fisher man arrived here at camp a few days back towing a three week old 24ft traveller .
They stopped near our camp to check the camp sites a I made the comment ;; do you normally have water pouring out of your van door.
Oooohh bugger; a quick check found to problem , they had left the water pump turned on ; also some items in the sink a with the rough dirt road a the items bouncing around lifted the tap to on , Enough said but it had half emptied two 90ltr tanks through every thing in the cupboards a draws a ruined on draw.
So turn off the pumps when travelling.

Yeah bloody hard way to learn a lesson Jim,
in all Travellers there is a switch just inside the door which isolates all 12v except the fridge. We always turn it off when locking the van.
perhaps they were not aware of that or forgot to do it.
Insurance job maybe?
hope you are both well.

I always turn the pump off after I use it. My pump makes a loud noise when we use it so know when it is on.

At the recommendation of the manufacturer of our van, we were advised to always switch from 12V to 240 when we are travelling AND turn off the pump.

I think most of us have left it on at least once, I know I have. Fortunately we did not have the plug in the sink.
Good Luck.

G'day Ken
I was thinking along the lines that some of the interior may well be ruined from such a drenching and an insurance claim will be in order to get it all fixed.
What were you thinking I meant?

I think the suggestion re insurance was to possibly make a claim, not that it had deliberately been done.
I often tavel with the pump power on, maybe I'll be more careful to turn it off now.

With our van the first thing to do when leaving the van (On Site with Mains Pressure Supply) is to make SURE that the TAP is turned OFF at the Park Tap.
I have seen and heard of Disasters' with hoses blowing off with either the 12 volt PUMP or MAINS SUPPLY left ON when NOT ATTENDED.
"NIP it in the BUD" before it HAPPENS. I still advise other travellers' who seem new to the game about this Safety Measure.
Cheers Kev.

Great advice Kev,
lost count of the taps I have turned off for people who are away and a hose pops off
I tend to turn the gas off too(on my van). Just in case
