I did a search on awnings but didn't really get the answer I am looking for.
All I want is some opinions on the best quality awning. The one on the van stretched so much in the recent storm it is no longer serviceable. Only had it replaced a little over 12 months ago.
I wonder if a stretched awning is covered by insurance
I will ask this in tech also

We have seen a lot of stretched awnings.But there reason was the arch bars, you can get a large arch or small and the small is all you need

The people camped next to us had their Prostor awning flip over the roof of their van yesterday. It was roped down at the time. A total write off.

Our Fiamma awning on the coaster is 10+ year old from what I have been told by people who sell spares for it. We got caught in a terrible wind storm the last time at Harrington about 3am. I had poles with springs and ropes on it but the fabric was blowing up and down at a hell of a rate.
It has ripped it at the ends but only by about 5mm, While their I bought a boat winch strap and put that over the awning length ways and put guy ropes with springs and that made a big difference.
But on getting home noticed that the roof of the Bus has a small tear in metal from fatigue where awning mounts to bus, So I have had some 1.6 metal sheet bent to suit profile and am in the process of fixing that the bus prior to putting awning back on.
We are going to get a new awning and will stick with a Fiamma as it has lasted well. I have been told by a gent recently who has a van and lost an awning that he got 1.8M x 90% shade cloth, In our case it is 7m long. I am having it hemmed at the ends with eyelets.
He said he puts that lengthways over the awning and put spring ropes on it and he said it makes a very big difference to how it performs in wind, It has the added benefit of keeping the sun off the fabric where it sits and cooler. He has had it for a few years now with no more awning issues in the wind. But you still have to be sensible. Hopefully it will work for us.
