Hi all, I'm Steve and my wife is Sherri. We've just bought a 1992 Mazda T3500 to convert to our mobile home away from home.
I've never driven anything as big as this before, but I jumped into the deep end right off the bat as we live on the Sunshine Coast in QLD and the bus was in Perth!!! Sherri had to work so I did a solo maiden trip of 4628km in 5 days. She was a snap to drive never missed a beat, so I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the T3500 so far.

Welcome to the gang Steve and Sherri, enjoy here and out in the playground.
The T3500 is a nice bus so have fun doing up inside and giving that personal touch.

Thanks Doug,
So far I've just pulled the seats out and now I'm measuring up to finalise the layout before I get stuck into it... for the next year or 2 :)
To start with we'll be using it as a mobile tent, bed on the floor, folding tables and chairs etc. Then it'll be one section at a time, starting with the bed at the back. That way we can be doing short trips all the while rather than have the whole thing as a building site until it's finished.
Is there an area in the forum for putting up a build thread?

welcome and hey what a great idea to use the bus as a tent , I guess by doing this it will give you lots of opportunity to find the best layout that works for you. Enjoy your travels

Hi Jackie. Nice to welcome a new member to the Forum:)
I guess to answer your question, if its a general one of nature use the General forum posts. If its technical use the Techies Corner.
We do have a few grumps here that will bitch if you post to the wrong thread - but just ignore them and plug on - 99% of us understand what it is to be a new member to a website like this and will do our best to help you out. You will get the hang of the Forum soon enough and like the rest, eventually enjoy your travels

Well Stev and Sherri, "Show Us Your Rig" is probably the right spot if you are showing us your rig and progress updates.
Now, that said, it will get lost as time goes by so maybe pop a little note in "General" every time you do an update saying so. that way we can slip into SUYR section and check it out.
Other than that just do an update with pics each time.
Me, I would like to see it in "General" but as my good mate B&B said, some "Grumps" will have a go at you but then KFT will come along and take your topic.....
........ So no problem then

Hey Steve and Sherri
We're also on the coast (can see the airport from home, to give you an idea where ), and looking to do exactly as you but with something more like a 38' bus. Ultimately, we'll be hitting the road permanently in it.
Be nice to catch up some time

Thanks for the welcomes and tips everyone :)
Spent plenty of time on forums, so I know what you men about the 'grumps', but don't worry, I'm well versed in ignoring people :)
Actually Jackie, we sat in 'Bluey' yesterday at said folding table and finalised our layout over a coffee.
Matt, we're in a unit at 5 Kyamba Court, Mooloolaba. The bus is parked in front of the garage where I can usually be found tinkering on one thing or another. Drop in anytime you're in the neighbourhood.
I'll pop over now and start a thread in SUYR and put a couple of pics up including the layout.
Thanks again for the warm welcome :)
