Before we go & buy a "Porta Potty" & Solar shower . I see heaps of parks & towns with dump sites.
But what does one do with the shower water , is it saved in th bottom , then you transfer it to a grey water drum.
Allthough we have been vanning for years we have only stayed at parks. As our trips have only been coastal.
What are the protocols/rules for them . In July we are heading to N/Qld , th Territory & SA , then wander home.

You'll start to find more and more freedom camp sites insisting that zero grey water is left behind.
It's easy to capture and contain this used water from the sink into sealable drums, assuming you don't have a proper dedicated tank fitted to your vehicle.
However capturing the shower water if you have a shower tent is another matter.
In all my travels I've never seen anyone do it and I'd also like to know how it's possible.

Someone we met put a baby bath in the bottom of the shower tent and stood in that, then tipped it into a container.

It's a bit hard to capture the water in a shower tent. The standard floor is just a square of groundsheet and the water flows over the end. Carrying the baby bath as mentioned above presents some problems but would be dooable with a ute.
Whilst it is now worthwhile fitting grey water tanks to vans , the number of self contained camp sites are only a very small (but highly desirable) number. I am not aware of any national park that requires self containment as yet. For years there have people in shower less vans stopping by the roadside overnight as they travel without erecting a portable shower. That is not going to change
My plan for in self contained only places is to only stay a night or two and have a wash in the van. Disposing of the remaining bit of water in the ice cream container we use goes down the sink. You can survive a night or two this way in summer of a week in cold weather. Many call these 3Fs of APC baths (feet face & fanny or armpit & crutch.)

I haven't done it my self but I saw someone with a small blow up baby swimming pool they showered in , not shaw what you would do with the water
when you had finished .

I've got to say what a classic answer from PeterD.
When we get situation like that (no grey water on the ground) we use the baby wipes for the APC or 3Fs (still laughing at that).
At the end of the day if it stops you stinking like the wildlife and you are still invited into bed, it's a winner for all concerned, mind you we use a bit of water on a flannel to clean off any residue, especially "down there"

Here on the Gemmies in Central Queensland water is at a premium, some use the sun to heat their shower water in black 20 litre drums, then tip that into a plastic paddle pool in their shower tent. Standing in the paddle pool a 12 volt pump to runs the shower and the water then runs off you back into the paddle pool. The used shower water is then put to use washing stones in the search for sapphires the next day. It works fine here maybe you could use a similar idea.

Thank you everybody for your replies .
We were thinking , if we wanted to "camp" somewhere we would have
"the equipment" , without having to dig holes or find a clean stream ,
or waiting to find & pay , while disrupting the leg .
