Why the big concern about Wilcannia?

even as I was refueling at the servo, just after sunset, the cheeky......'s were trying to get under the tonneau cover of my ute tray. about 6 or 7 of them. Drove on towards Cobar and parked up for the night at Camp 1062.

As I'm sure you know Troopy, security is a major concern in Wilcannia.

There is now a very good, safe CP just out of Wilcannia. Very nice too we've heard with ensuite amenities block for all.

Last time through Wilcannia we drove into the park with the intention of staying the night, first impressions did not go well, looked pretty uncared for, we did a lap and drove out again.

In June I'll be in the bush probably about 40K from there... no caravan park, no amenities, and no problems.

Hi Santa, are you referring to the old CP in Wilcannia? There is a new one about 3-4 km east of town called Warrawong on the Darling and from all reports it is a top place to stay.

We stayed at Warrawang CP for 3 nights a year or so ago. Very good, clean park.
Great amenities block. Big, open sites.
We lost a mobile phone there, which was found by one of the staff, and they sent it to Menindee for us the next day.
Would definitely stay there again.

Perhaps we should have had a closer look, appearances can be deceptive.

Have just had a phone call from the owners of the farm we are currently house sitting. They stayed at Warrawang CP this week and had nothing to say but GOOD! about this park. Clean amenities, great sites etc.

We have stayed at Wurrawong on the Darling back in October last year and it was great. Good sites, friendly management, pet friendly and an Amenities Block fit for a King or Queen. Was $35 per night but no worries at all. We felt very safe. Powered sites were right next to a billabong with grassed areas.
