Gday. This has nothing to do with vans etc .however at home we have new carpet and with the leftovers bits I had them overlocked and they fit in the doorways and in front of the couch. But the bloody things slide when walked on .Not slip just move,I tried the rubber we put in the van cupboards to stop the pans from moving to no avail and also the 'grippy" side of a velcro patch ,also useless. Clearly I can only place something on the mat piece and not on the actual carpet .Any suggestions ? Cheers John
I'll watch with interest, I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts! I'm considering six inch nails might be the go!

What you are trying to do is a carpet cleaner nightmare , forget the matts and have them cleaned at leased twice a year, you also break your neck with mats not worth it.

Err !! Moama john, What Dave is trying to tell you, does not matter if the carpet is New or Not !! I too have just had New Quality Carpet and Underlay in our house,The house is only 4 years old, The previous owner who had it built, also ''THOUGHT'' it would be a good idea to put overlocked mats on all the wear area's May have been ok for the 2 years he was here, But it does BIG colour differences when you lift them up, And no amount of cleaning will get it to match up again, and you will end up with patchwork looking carpet, I had it cleaned twice By professional, and all i got was very clean patchwork looking carpet, !!
So I bit the bullet and replaced it at great expense, with quality, as i want this lot to see me out, !! Both the carpet supplier and the carpet layer, strongly advised not to put mats down, and to do exactly what Glenelg told you, !! To ensure the carpet all remain uniform in colour, Have it Properly Cleaned at least twice a year,

Try a bit of foam. Works on rugs. Has to be almost the size of the mat.

Sheba I would have to place one section of the velcro on the carpet face which I dont want to do,also It does not adhere to the carpet tufts . John

Gday...
I just paid a visit to my old friend, Mr Google. He directed me to this piece of advice. Have no idea if it is a valid solution - but sounds plausible.
Some silicone or similar might do the same thing Rocky and John

one of the" tips " we tried after many others was the non slip mat that is used in cupboards
when it didn't stay in place under the mat we tried some blue tack on the non slip mat to hold it to the mat not only did the mat still slip on the carpet but
we now have some black spots on the carpet that we are trying to shampoo out gradually

Well said.
Have you tried self-adhesive Velcro ?
Cheers,
Sheba.
We used a product similar to this for matts on a tiled area http://allaces.com.au/rug-cleaning/anti-skid-rug-spray
seem to work well
cheers
