Our first m/home was a converted bus .. So it was called "THE BUS" ...We have an Explorer Winebago now...
We still call it THE BUS ...

Can you remember when people used to put ornate name plates on their houses? I remember one from my early childhood. Only 70 years ago. It took pride of place at the front door of a beautiful Queenslander across the road from our workers cottage.

My Sister calls her house at the Gold Coast 'Rose Cottage' (appropriate as she has set it up with a cottage garden that also suits the (Cape Cod?) house type), after an ancestral home of the same name, in Trangadee Ireland.
Another Sister calls hers either 'River Cottage' or 'Verandas', seems to change from time to time ... It is a modern Queenslander type on several levels overlooking a beautiful bend of a river & has large rear verandas on all levels making the most of the delightful views. Again .. appropriate, but perhaps a little over the top.
No ideas for my ageing Jayco or Brick box Queenslander home though. I think 'The Beast' might be right for the old GQ Patrol. Then SWMBO could take the nickname 'The Beauty'. I think that she would like that.

How about 'Sheip Pen' or 'Jumbuck's Rest' .. I don't find that offensive or defaming. Might start a conversation. LOL

We have a carved sign that says "Hosking's Place" yea I know it is original.
We named our farm house "Hacienda" The name of the plan of our Phelan prefab home.
It is wise to put a name on your van so that you know when someone is calling you,
Maybe a trucky that is warning you he is going to overtake you.

I think its great to name your rig, I have a Mercedes Winnebago I have named "Athena", she was a Greek Goddess.,
I feel safe n comfortable in her..

Our first van was 'The Woodshack', and this one we have called 'Our Hootchie' - Pete was in the Army and that's what their tents were called.
The Patrol we had was 'The Beast' and now our Colorado is called 'The Tank'.

Hey Graeme. In Perth, WA, yet another enterprising Kiwi family have set up 2 shops surprisingly called "The Kiwi Shop". I think it pulls more Aussies than Kiwis, but thankfully very few Poms (sorry, but had to make this a light hearted racist thing LOL). They sell various sizes of vehicle transfers, from silver ferns to other well known NZ icons and sporting teams (they've withdrawn the cricket ones till next year haha).
I thought about stick one on the back of my 'van, but the owner of the business who I know well, suggested not to put them on anything, as over the years, windows had been smashed out with Kiwi icon transfers on them.
Shame that we have ****s like this - in Perth, it has a very high proportion of fine English people (mainly tradies) and they have all their soccer club stickers and personalized rego plates. Queue at the traffic lights or shopping centres and you will see heaps.
How about naming your van "lobotomy" in reference to the surgery cut mark in your hair line when you made the conversion ??????

Our old Millard caravan was called Nomad and we just said to people they had to read the fine print....
With our New(er) Motorhome reading the fine print tells the story....
I was thinking of another name but was talked out of it.. As we travel with our parrot I thought "2 birds and a bloke" the other half said truckies would think of something else... lol My first thought was "Phukenoph" but I was over ruled as he thought it may be offensive. Happy with the final name :)

When I first bought my MH, I sent out the call to my friends and family to name her, and my closest girlfriend, named her. We would often go driving and I would drive and she would joke that I was driving Miss Daisy, so the MH had to be called Miss Daisy. I love her and she certainly has a personality of her own. Last year when I decided to tow a little car, the question came up again, what to call Miss Daisy's baby. Baby Daisy, Little Daisy, etc, My son said well a baby daisy is a seedling so her name became Seedling.
So Miss Daisy and Seedling serve me well as we traverse this wonderful country.
