Gday...
Not sure if it will help, but the last time I headed north from Corryong I went via Tumbarumba, Batlow, Tumut, Gundagai, Yass to Canberra to visit friends.
I tow a 21ft van and found that was quite simple, some hills but nothing to write home about. Any other way from Corryong will mean quite mountainous country, lesser roads and probably take longer - not from experience, but from looking at maps and some knowledge of the area.
I then went from Canberra via Goulburn and followed the Hume Hwy through Sydney and then headed inland to Muswellbrook and kept going.
If you want to go to Taree/Grafton just keep following the Pacific Hwy further north from Sydney.
Sorry if that doesn't help, but it is all I can offer
cheers - John

I have done the road north with an 18' van from Corryong via Tumbarumba, no problem - (if you freedom camp you may like to try Paddys River Flat (recommended) or Henry Angel Falls on the way), Batlow and Tumut. Turn right if you want to go via Adaminaby then Cooma or left to the highway, north, and turn right at Yass via Murrumbateman to Canberra. I'll leave the Taree directions to someone who knows...

Hi Pauline
First I have not long ago switched the computer on and was thinking how I could help in the mean time 2 other good people have tried to help, sometimes we are slow.
Secondly I personally have not been from Corryong to Canberra.
It maybe better to slip back out to Wondonga and then proceed up the Hume to Yass and into Canberra but if you are a little adventurous head up the 79 ks to Kiandra then onto the Snowy Mtns Highway to Cooma, I did do that last year and it is a pleasant drive with some great scenery, Cooma has pay 2 stay for 3 some at Adaminaby. It is a little up hill out of Cooryong and some windy bits but the road surface is good.
Now from Canberra it is mostly 4 lane highway to Grafton not to exciting. There is some tollways though back blocks of Sydney to make it easier, so you need to have your transponder charged up. At Ourimbah there is good rest area at the bottom of a hill, nice area for a rest,, there is a couple before Sydney also.
Once you get to Hexham it a casual drive to Grafton, there is some good rest areas well signed. Overnighter would be at Bulahdelah or showground Kempsy.
Hope this helps, sorry about replying slow. Ralph.
