Be careful, not all eBay electrical items conform to Australian standards. Just a word of caution from an electrician.

Gday...
I think it is not just because of "the waterproofing" but because of the extensive, rigorous evaluation and testing that is required to get the rating/approval to allow its 'unrestricted' use outdoors in all weathers.

Just had a quick look on Fleabay, the cheap ones range in price from $65 to $95 + postage but they are all the indoor ones so they are not waterproof. You could get one of these from a caravan parts place for about the same price and save on the postage.
Again the more expensive ones on Fleabay for $200 plus are the waterproof ones, but again you could get one of these from a caravan parts place for about the same price and save on the postage.

Here is the KEY point -
All portable vehicles and their site supplies - that means your camper trailers, caravans and motorhomes MUST COMPLY with
AS/NZS 3001:2008/Amdt 1:2012 Electrical Installations Portable structures and vehicles including their site supplies
The Ampfibian RV-02MAX DOES COMPLY with AS/NZS 3001:2008/Amdt 1:2012
The Ampfibian MINI DOES NOT COMPLY with AS/NZS 3001:2008/Amdt 1:2012
The standards can't be any clearer than that - ignore at your own risk.
The MINI is designed only as a DIY adapter for power tools in an indoor environment - it is not approved for the connection of caravans and other RV's.

The Mini Ampfibian if not approved for caravans, would be bloody dangerous with power tools as well if not water proof.

It would seem that the device mentioned by 03 Troopy has the same approvals as some other brands of outlet box that are approved for RV use in accordance with section 4.4 of AS/NZS 3001 and that approval is for indoor use only.
