Isnt that nice of Edna.....not only does it affect travelers, but also the locals - what a dopey decision. SES now needs to intervene to sort out the argument and get the place running again. I wonder if Edna will feel quilty if a tourist dies as the result of no supplies and fuel?

It is only about 75kms between the Imintji Store and Mount Barnett Roadhouse, to its east. Imintji has not been there nearly as long as Mt Barnett and before it was set up, travellers managed quite well.
Whilst the Gibb River Road presents its own challenges, huge distances is not one of them. From memory, it is less than 500kms from Kununurra to Mt Barnett RH, and around 300kms from Derby to Mt Barnett.

lets hope the State authority responsible (and they all seem to be good at ducking for cover when the word responsible is used) puts up a sign at the start of the Gibb Road warning people to take plenty of fuel and water/food so we don't hear about some deaths on the TV news to due poor preparation on some "weekend" tourist type

If your unable to take care of contingencies, i.e. fuel, water, food etc out in that country you probably shouldn't be out there.

Surely you are aware of the mindset of the 2 day tourists. They have to have everything laid on for them.

When it is open, the Gibb River Road is quite heavily trafficked. Although it is "remote" it is not like some other outback roads that are little travelled.
