Hi guys what tug do you have with the 5th wheel. I've got a 26ft cutloose van and just looking at buying a my15 Colorado but having truble getting my head around the clearance on the pickup tray. I see clearance needed of 1200-1300mmto keep van level but utes all have 1300 is trays. any info for me other than change of tray.. I have seen dual cab with tub and 5th wheelers but can't remember what the clearances were like. We currently have a GU 4.2 patrol that has a bit of truble with wind and I believe it is only 2 ton tow??? We would greatly appreciate any input.

I have the 2014 Colorado twin cab and think it's the best car I have ever had.
Have you looked at a "Space Cab", the one with only a small back seat?? Gives extra room in the tub area. I have seen a few of many of the different twin? cab utes with 5th's hooked up.

Greg, have you had a look at the Cutloose web site, particularly the "Towing Information" section? They recommend the Colorado for towing. I would suggest that you contact the manufacturers for directions on the hitch requirements for your intended vehicle. They would know better than anyone on any forum.

thanks Peter. I never thought about the cutloose team. I know the Ultima vans fit ok on the Ford ranger but they have a higher chassis than the cutloose. thanks for the info

Hiya Doug. Yep thought about the spacecab but not for very long. Too many grandies that are gonna want to sit with granny and Pa. Got two families of kids on the road as well. Always having occasions to need the back seats. Got a fur baby that needs room as well. I have seen a number or styleside tubs towing 5ths but never taken notice of the clearance between van and ute body

I have Dmax and ultima 5th wheeler between van & ute is 300 or in my lingo about a foot .

They mention a lift kit on the cutloose web site. I have a Mazda BT50 freestyle tray top brought purposely to tow a fifth wheeler. It is 990 from the ground to the tray.

Hey binman you might like to try the iveco 65c 18 awesome tow vehicle and plenty of room for grandies very good economy we have no regrets with our truck and you can use it as a source of income when travelling .
