I have a 2012 Toyota HiLux and I have been looking at installing a slide on camper on the tray. Looking at the Palamino Slide ons. They look to be good value for the money. Is there any negatives that I should be aware of. I think that I would be looking to buy second hand as my dollars are limited.

Hi Clem. I have had a bronco 600 for nearly 3 years and it has been great. Due to health reasons I now have to sell it. It will be selling with lots of extras. Believe me when I say I'm very upset about it but thats life I guess. If you're interested please get in touch. Noela.

We owned a slide-on for 12 years. Be very very careful about the weight. Know EXACTLY the actual weight of the slide-on and all its contents and be sure that the vehicle is not going to be overloaded, particularly on the rear axle. You may finish up with a vehicle that is not practical or is illegally overloaded.
Also, that unit will be a US import.
Be absolutely sure that it has full electrical and gas compliance in Australia.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Noela
I have no idea what a Bronco 600 is or what it's value would be. Would you be in a position to send me some information, possibly some photos of the unit so that I can be better informed.
Thanks
Clem
PS: Thank you to the other responders who have welcomed me to this site. I am not yet familiar with this type of communication so I may make a FEW ERRORS ALONG THE WAY,

Clem, it's the Yankee model that the SS-600 is converted from.
You have not told us much, which style of Hilux do you have? Some slide-on campers break the back of twin cab utes. Also which Palomino were you looking at?
Noela, What conversions have been made to make the Bronco Australian compliant?

Hi, I had a Palomino ss550 on a 2017 extra cab with 2100 tray. The weight was huge at over 900 kgs loaded so with one in my Hilux with a total gvm of 3050 it weighed 3060! With a 400gvm upgrade from Pedders it gave me about 300 to spare with new gvm coming in at 3450!. Weights at up quick with palomino dry weight of 718 plus water, extra battery, solar, batwing awning ect plus gear it came to well over 950kgs!
G'day Clem and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Can't make any comment re the slide on but have a gret Christmas and New Year :)
